Gene A. Eklund, CPA
Senior Partner
Gene holds a BA and MA in Business from Humboldt State University. He began his professional career with Price Waterhouse & Co. before joining William F. Jackson, An Accountancy Corp. in 1978. In 1987, Gene became a Partner and the name of our firm was changed to Jackson & Eklund, An Accountancy Corp. Gene's expertise is in S-Corporation and Corporate taxation. His interests are reading, history, and auto racing. He has been a member of the CA Society of CPAs since 1974, AICPA since 1975, and the Rotary Club of Arcata since 1980.
Robert W. Sutter, CPA
Managing Partner/President
Bob graduated from CSU Chico, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He had three years national firm experience with Touche, Ross & Co., and joined J&E in 1984, becoming a Partner in 1997. Bob led our Audit team for many years and now works with individual and business taxation. Outside interests are reading, building, outdoor activities, cooking, and spending time with his family. Bob is a member of AICPA, CA Society of CPAs, and serves as Secretary-Treasurer of the Mad River Rotary Club in McKinleyville.
Jo Ann Hunt, CPA
Tax Manager
Jo Ann received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Humboldt State University and joined J&E in 1982. Jo Ann specializes in individual tax as well as planning, administration and compliance for Trusts and Estates. Jo Ann is a member of the CA Society of CPAs, Soroptimist International of Arcata, Mad River Community Hospital Health Advisory Board, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, Moonstone Quilters, and Redwood Empire Quilters Guild. She has four incredible grandchildren and enjoys quilting and reading.
Larry E. Wood, CPA
Tax Partner
Larry joined J&E in 1986 after earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at Humboldt State University. He has been a Partner in the Firm since 2003. He is a member of AICPA, the CA Society of CPAs, and the Arcata Founders Chapter of BNI. Larry specializes in individual and business taxation as well as accounting and auditing. He enjoys baseball and spending time with his family at Trinity Lake.
Bryan D. Reeser, CPA
Partner
Bryan graduated from Humboldt State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting. He joined J&E in June 1993 and became a Partner in 2003. Bryan specializes in non-profit organizations, Single Audits, LLCs, S-Corps, and issues related to Construction/Developers. He also consults with individual and business clients on tax and accounting issues. Bryan is a member of AICPA, CA Society of CPAs, the Board of Mad River Montessori Preschool, and the Rotary Club of Arcata Sunrise. Bryan and his wife have two children and he enjoys golf, running, hiking, sporting events, and spending time with his family.
David K. Monroe, EA
Enrolled Agent
David studied Accounting at Rio Hondo College in Whittier, CA and joined our staff in 1990 when J&E acquired Humboldt Tax and Financial Services. An Enrolled Agent since 1987, he has a broad experience in business management and accounting services, specializing in individual tax preparation as well as clergy and church taxation, business entities, and QuickBooks consulting. David is currently the Teasurer for the Humboldt Arts Council and he enjoys music, running, and Bible study. David and his wife have one son, three daughters, and five grandchildren. Except on the stormiest days, David rides to work on his motorcycle.
Betty J. Hunt
Enrolled Agent & Notary Public
Betty earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting at CSU Sacramento. She joined J&E in October, 2003. She is our Notary and works with many of our clients as our QuickBooks Pro Advisor. Betty enjoys reading, traveling, and collecting orchids.
Bradley S. Williamson, CPA
Tax Manager
Bradley attended Humboldt State University and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting. He has been a licensed CPA since 2007. He specializes in tax, audit and accounting. Bradley is a member of CA Society of CPAs and the Eureka Founders Chapter of BNI. He and his wife have two young children and Bradley enjoys spending family time at the beach. He stays active with sports and exercise.
Scott D. Gordon
Staff Accountant
Scott joined the firm in 1998 as a part-time tax preparer and later became full-time upon graduation from Humboldt State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting. He is experienced in individual and business taxation, small business consulting, and is a senior member of the Jackson & Eklund Audit team. When not at the office, Scott enjoys spending time with his three children. His personal interests include basketball, bicycling, golf, running, and spending time in the outdoors.
Joelle C. Lane
Staff Accountant
Joelle joined our staff in December, 2006. She graduated from Humboldt State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting. As a Staff Accountant, Joelle works in tax preparation, payroll services, and takes on various client bookkeeping responsibilities. She enjoys snowboarding, camping and the outdoors.
Kathy L. Wood
Staff Accountant
Kathy originally began working as a teenager at J&E in 1980. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting at Humboldt State University and took some time off to raise two children, then re-joined our staff in 2003. Kathy specializes in small business consulting, QuickBooks, payroll, accounting, and tax preparation. She enjoys attending her kids' sporting events, spending time with her family at Trinity Lake, gardening, quilting, and photography. Many of the beautiful photographs displayed throughout our office are Kathy's work.
Karie R. Kroeker
Staff Accountant
Karie graduated from Humboldt State University and joined the J&E staff in 1999. She specializes in individual and business taxation and accounting. She currently works part-time so she can spend more time with her husband and two young children.
Rachel M. Damme
Staff Accountant
Rachel joined the firm in January of 2010. As a Staff Accountant, she prepares tax returns, is a member of the Audit team, and provides payroll services. She is a 2010 graduate of Humboldt State University, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. In her spare time Rachel enjoys cooking, wine tasting, hunting, camping, and spending time with her family and friends.
Michelle I. Bacigaluppi
Staff Accountant
Michelle joined the firm in February of 2010. As a Staff Accountant, she is involved in tax preparation, client bookkeeping, and payroll services. She is a 2009 graduate of Humboldt State University, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Michelle also volunteers at Salmonberry Preschool in Trinidad and is involved in the Trinidad and McKinleyville Playgroups. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children.
Alice I. Bartlett
Bookkeeper
Alice attended Columbia Basin College in Pasco, WA, and joined J&E in December, 1988. Alice provides complete bookkeeping and payroll reporting services to our clients. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, sewing and decorative handwork, gardening, and spending time with family. Alice is a Board Member of the Northcoast Employer Advisory Council and is an active member of her church.
Glenna J. Urton
Receptionist/Admin. Assistant
Glenna joined J&E in 1990 as our Receptionist. She is the welcoming voice on the phone when you call or stop in. Glenna writes, "In my 20+ years with J&E, I have enjoyed sharing all of life's joys and sorrows with fellow employees and clients. It is so nice to work for such a family-oriented company." Glenna goes nowhere without her trusty camera and enjoys documenting any and all events in photos. She loves riding her bicycle and walking, especially on the beach with her three Bichons Frise. Glenna is also a Volunteer for "Small Paws Rescue", a nationwide non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and placing Bichons Frise into loving homes.
Janice E. Newman
Office Manager
Janice studied Business Administration at Pierce College in Woodland Hills, CA. She joined J&E as a temporary tax preparer in February 1984 and then stayed on to work as one of our bookkeepers. She was our Payroll Specialist for twelve years before becoming Office Manager in 2000. Janice is a member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Arcata Sunrise. She and her husband have been active in the Rotary Youth Exchange Program since 1998, hosting 13 students from around the world. They also have two grown sons living out of the area, both accomplished musicians. Janice enjoys travel and dining out with her husband, wine tasting, live music, shopping, and reading.
